Last month we announced the newly redesigned Monumental Thinking website, featuring leadership ideas and information you can apply to your organization. Visit the site to find fresh content within the Resource Center and this month’s new Speaker Spotlight on psychologist and professor Barry Schwartz, as well as additional research and information that may spark your creative thinking.
We also have announced the winners of the Prometric 20/20 Vision Contest, in which we asked you to submit your visions for the future of the testing industry. The response was fantastic – thank you again to those of you who participated and congratulations to the winners! The top three winning visions and their authors have been posted on the site.
For this month’s Speaker Spotlight, we’ve highlighted noted psychologist and professor Barry Schwartz, the Dorwin Cartwright Professor of Social Theory and Social Action at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. Schwartz is a big believer in several concepts and theories related to decision making – a process we perform every day, large or small, that is sometimes taken for granted. He has spent years studying what he deems the “paradox of choice“ – the idea that life offers so many choices for every decision, which is not always positive and can backfire based on the severity and emotional outcome of the decision. Check out the article to read more on Schwartz’s thoughts and real-life analogies to life’s decisions.
We encourage you to visit the Monumental Thinking site often. If you have content or ideas you’d like to see included, please reach out to your Prometric contact or send an e-mail to Tara McCleary at [email protected] The link to the Monumental Thinking website will be included in each issue of this newsletter to provide you with easy access, but be sure to save it as a “favorite!”
