The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA®), the certification division of IMA®, and Prometric, a trusted provider of market-leading test development and delivery solutions, announced today a multi-year renewal for test development and delivery services supporting IMA’s globally recognized CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) program. New to the administration of CMA test delivery is the global implementation of identity management solutions.
The CMA is unique among professional and academic credentials, designed specifically for accounting and financial management professionals in business. It is a relevant assessment of advanced accounting and financial management knowledge in four critical areas: Financial Planning, Analysis, Control and Decision Support. The CMA assures employers that an individual has mastered the knowledge and skills needed on the job today.
Professionals holding IMA’s CMA credential earn an average of 26 percent more in total compensation compared to noncertified professionals, according to IMA’s 23rd Annual Salary Survey, published in the June 2012 issue of Strategic Finance. On average, CMAs earn over $27,000 more than their non-certified peers. Follow this link to download a copy of the survey: http://www.discoverima.org/IMASALSUROPR.
“This renewal reflects IMA’s commitment to its aspiring CMA members,” said ICMA’s Senior Vice President of the CMA program Dennis Whitney, CMA, CFM. “Prometric’s global testing infrastructure provides the high level of quality and convenience our members deserve. Our relationship will be valuable as we continue expanding in the Asia/Pacific, Europe, Middle East/Africa and the Americas regions.”
The ICMA added 10,000 new CMA candidates in 2012. More than 15,000 CMA exams were administered over the last year. IMA currently represents more than 60,000 accountants and financial professionals in business.
“The world’s leading companies and governments view the CMA credential as a reliable indicator for successful employment and promotion. It signals to them that the financial professionals they hire have the accounting skills, strategic vision and business ethics to perform honestly and effectively,” said Michael Brannick, President and CEO of Prometric. “Prometric’s test development and delivery support of the CMA gives candidates a level playing field for proving their merit and earning the credential, and the global scale of our operations allows for reliable CMA testing, worldwide, over a secure computer-based network. The inclusion of ID Management strengthens the CMA credential by adding an effective safeguard for honest test takers.”
