Prometric Creating State-of-the-Art, Global Operations Hub

Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) Secretary Dominick Murray and Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz joined Prometric CEO Michael Brannick to announce the company’s creation of a $12 million, state-of-the-art, global operations hub.

The Global Operations Center will be located approximately 15 miles from Prometric’s corporate headquarters, in Baltimore City. The 60,000-square-foot facility will transform the way Prometric conducts global test development and delivery. Once fully integrated, Prometric will base approximately 250 employees at the company’s new facility, with 550 employees statewide. The company is streamlining three operations presently spread out in Maryland and Minnesota.

“Prometric has experienced seven consecutive years of positive revenue and profit growth, and transforming our Global Operations is part of our long-term growth strategy,” said Michael Brannick, Prometric’s President and CEO. “This change will significantly strengthen our performance and the support services we provide across computer-based, paper-based and Internet-based testing.”

Once fully integrated, the company estimates it will save $30 million over the next five years by making significant improvements in the processes that support more than 10 million certification exams per year over a network of 8,200 test sites in more than 160 countries.

“This is great news for Baltimore County, for Maryland and for our economy,” said DBED Secretary Dominick Murray. “We’re pleased that Prometric recognizes the benefits of doing business in Maryland — including our workforce, ranked among the nation’s best and one of our state’s greatest competitive assets. We look forward to helping Prometric continue to grow and thrive here in Maryland.”

Specific functions managed out of the new facility include oversight of Prometric’s global test center network, its global help desk, all contact centers, on-demand testing and candidate support. The expected date of completion of the new facility is June 1.

“Baltimore County offers Prometric a world class workforce of cyber security, IT and customer service professionals,” said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. “By choosing Baltimore County for their expanding global operations center, Prometric has chosen a business community that will support their growth and commitment to transforming the way they deliver professional testing and licensing around the world.”

Prometric conducts testing on behalf of 400 clients in the academic, financial, government, healthcare, professional, corporate and information technology markets.

“At Prometric, we believe and commit to changing lives one exam at a time. It’s inspiring work, and some of the world’s most highly regarded companies, governments and organizations trust us to provide secure and reliable test development and delivery,” said Brannick.
